02Side by side
DataMind OS and Qlik, row by row.
14 topics. Every Qlik fact cites a numbered source, checked October 2026.
| Topic | DataMind OS | Qlik |
|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | DataMind OS installs on your own Linux servers, physical or virtual, in any cloud account or data center, in about 20 minutes through the browser Installer. The Lake, the Warehouse, models, reports and every AI agent work in that install, and a named release arrives every month, installed with one click.5 | Qlik Cloud Analytics is SaaS on AWS in 14 commercial regions, plus Qlik Cloud Government. Client-managed Qlik Sense Enterprise runs on Windows Server 2016 to 2025, with each release supported for two years.1, 2, 3, 4 |
| Price | One published company plan, on the pricing page. Every app, SSO and two-factor and Kartlos tokens come with it, plus one Privileged seat for integrations, the data warehouse and access permissions.7 | Published annual plans: Starter from $300 a month for 10 users, Standard from $825 a month for 25 GB, Premium from $2,750 a month for 50 GB, and Enterprise by quote from 250 GB. Client-managed licenses are quoted by sales.6 |
| What the price is based on | The company, not the data: one plan with one Privileged seat included, and no charge per builder, viewer, subscriber, connector, synced row, query or gigabyte. Report builders, Mind builders, Oda users, viewers and subscribers are free at any scale. Add readers, add data, add traffic: the total stays.7 | Qlik Cloud is priced on Data for Analysis, the data loaded into and saved in Qlik Cloud, with extra capacity in 25 GB or 250 GB packs and charges above the plan's capacity. Starter is priced per user; client-managed sites use Professional, Analyzer and Analyzer Capacity licenses, the last consumed in six-minute units.6, 8, 9 |
| Engine and data size | Every chart, export and subscription queries ClickHouse on your own servers live: columnar, ZSTD-compressed, no app reloads to schedule, and integers beyond 2^53 exact to the screen. Every table shows its real compressed size. | The associative engine holds each app's data in memory after a script reload; Direct Discovery and Direct Query leave some data in the source. Apps are capped at 5 GB on Starter up to 15 GB on Enterprise, or 50 GB with purchase.10, 11, 6 |
| Modeling language | SQL. Measures and calculated columns are ClickHouse SQL with window functions and 130 recipes, AI writes one from a sentence, and each measure carries up to 50 tests on live data. Compare mode puts two selections, such as 2026 against 2025, in one tile with Diff and Diff %.14 | The data model is built in each app's load script, and measures are chart expressions; set analysis defines a scope different from the current selection, for example last year's value.12, 13 |
| Data integration | Lake, Warehouse, transformations and Workflows come in the same plan: nine load patterns with generated SQL, Test Run on real data, duplicate-key checks before every write, workflows that order themselves from the engine's own query tree, and lineage from source to deck. | Data movement runs through Qlik Talend Cloud, included by tier: relational and SaaS sources on Starter, cloud, SAP, mainframe and legacy sources from Standard, and Data Moved capacity on Enterprise.6, 8 |
| Connectors | 22 built-in source types for databases, cloud warehouses, files, queues and webhooks, SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, Snowflake, BigQuery and Excel among them. Connect Any API has AI build a connector for any REST, OData or GraphQL API, and the custom connector agent writes and tests a Python connector for anything else.17, 18, 19 | Standard connectors to hundreds of data sources, plus Qlik Talend Cloud for data movement; on-premises sources are reached over an outbound, encrypted gateway.6, 15, 16 |
| AI analysts and builders | AI Minds answer by writing and running SQL on governed tables, every step a card with its SQL and result, and Report Builder AI builds report pages from a description or a screenshot in minutes. Every AI agent works in the DataMind OS you install on your own servers, and Execute as User runs each Mind query under the asking person's own rules.22 | Qlik Answers is the agentic interface in Qlik Cloud, generally available in 2026, and the Qlik MCP server opens Qlik to assistants such as Claude. Qlik describes Qlik Answers as a cloud-based service that runs in Qlik Cloud.20, 21, 6 |
| AI and your data | Zero data retention: model calls go through DataMind's AI gateway to zero-data-retention endpoints, so nothing a Mind sends is stored by DataMind or the model provider. Columns marked as personal data reach the model as tokens, a Region setting routes AI chat to EU endpoints, and every AI request is logged in your own database. | Qlik Answers uses Anthropic Claude on Amazon Bedrock. The agentic experience requires opting in to cross-regional processing, which sends inference outside the tenant's region; Qlik says data stays stored in the home region and is not used for training.2, 23 |
| AI tokens | 85M Kartlos Premium and 850M Kartlos Standard tokens a month come with the plan, about 1B and 10B a year.7 | AI capacity grows by tier: more Answers Agents on Standard, additional GenAI capacity on Premium, and greater AI Assistant and machine learning model capacity on Enterprise.6 |
| Row and column security | Object, column and row rules live in the database, so they hold in DataPrism, Minds, the SQL Editor and in DataGrip, Power BI or Excel. A semantic model limits rows per viewer by group or by a SQL rule, and View as shows a report exactly as a colleague sees it.25 | Section access, a security table in each app's load script, decides which users see which data in that app; managed spaces govern sharing from Standard up.24, 8 |
| Delivery and exports | Email subscriptions deliver PDF, PowerPoint or Excel up to 24 times a day, each copy under its recipient's row rules. Every visual streams its whole result natively, even a billion rows as CSV or TSV, and every chart is an API in CSV, JSON or Parquet.26, 27 | Plans list automated report generation and delivery from Starter, and report generation and distribution with managed spaces from Standard.6, 8 |
| QlikView | DataPrism covers what teams run QlikView for: governed models, interactive reports with drill, slicers and bookmarks, and print-ready pages through Export to PDF and scheduled subscriptions, on your own servers. Each page comes over from its screenshot through Report Builder AI.22 | QlikView is still released, but versions reach end of support: 12.90 on October 31, 2026 and 12.100 on September 30, 2027. Qlik's own path leads to Qlik Cloud through the Qlik Analytics Migration Tool.28, 29, 30 |
| Time to value | About 20 minutes from a bare Linux server to the whole OS, with a demo semantic model and report seeded on day one. The two-month free trial runs the whole OS on your own servers, with no card and no feature limits.5 | A free 30-day Qlik Cloud trial with no card. A client-managed site needs Windows Server, a network file share and a PostgreSQL repository, and Qlik publishes no time-to-production figure.31, 4 |

03Further
Where DataMind OS goes further.
All of it in the same plan, on the same servers, under the same rules.
-
Live queries, no reloads
Every chart, export and subscription queries ClickHouse on your own servers live, with no app reloads to schedule.
-
SQL measures and Compare mode
Measures are SQL with 130 recipes and up to 50 tests each, and Compare mode puts 2026 against 2025 in one tile with Diff and Diff %.
-
A lake and a warehouse
Nine load patterns with generated SQL, Test Run on real data and a duplicate-key check before every write.
-
Report Builder AI
Rebuilds each Qlik sheet from its screenshot on your semantic model in minutes, with slicers, bookmarks and drill.
-
AI in your own install
Minds, Report Builder AI, Model AI and the Builder Minds all work with the DataMind OS you install on your own servers.
-
Native streaming download
Every visual streams its whole result straight from ClickHouse, even a billion rows as CSV or TSV, and every chart is also an API in CSV, JSON or Parquet.
-
Priced by the company
No charge per builder, viewer, subscriber, connector, synced row, query or gigabyte, so adding readers and data leaves the price where it is.
04Switch
Switch from Qlik.
The sources your apps reload from connect on day one, the tables your scripts build can land as Parquet or CSV files, each sheet comes over from its screenshot in minutes, and Qlik keeps reloading until the last app moves.
-
Day one
Install DataMind OS on your own Linux server in about 20 minutes; a demo semantic model and report are ready before any source connects. The databases and files your load scripts read connect as Lake sources: SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, MariaDB, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, S3 and CSV, Excel and Parquet files are among the 22 built-in types, Connect Any API builds any REST, OData or GraphQL source, and a SQL SELECT from a load script can become a custom table on SQL database and Snowflake sources.
-
Tables your scripts already build
Qlik's Store statement writes Parquet and CSV as well as QVD, so a table your scripts transform today can land as a Parquet or CSV file that the Lake loads as a table, up to 50 GB per file, from an upload or S3. The Warehouse then rebuilds the transformations in SQL, with Generate SQL with AI reviewed in a diff and Test Run on real data before a table changes.
-
The model
Create a semantic model on those tables. Model AI adds the BI tables, sets the fact table and the joins, and writes each measure in SQL from a plain-language description of the chart expression, set analysis included; Compare mode covers this-year-against-last views in one tile. A measure test compares each measure with your own source-of-truth SQL before anyone relies on it.
-
The apps
Put a screenshot of each Qlik sheet into New report with AI. Report Builder AI marks every element on the plan card, you say what each mark becomes, and it rebuilds the page on your model in minutes, with slicers, bookmarks and drill; Custom Visual AI rebuilds a bespoke visual from its picture. From then on a report travels as a .dataprism file.
-
Rules and delivery
The reductions in each section access table are rebuilt as the model's row-level security, by group or by a SQL rule on the viewer's email, and View as checks each colleague's view. Scheduled reports become Email subscriptions in PDF, PowerPoint or Excel, each copy under its recipient's row rules.
-
In parallel
Qlik keeps reloading from the same sources while apps move, because DataMind OS connects to those sources directly. A Consulting and delivery partner can run the whole program with your team, QlikView estates included.
Q and A
Questions, answered.
What teams ask before they move from Qlik.
Is there a self-hosted alternative to Qlik Sense that runs on Linux?
Yes. DataMind OS installs on your own Linux servers, physical or virtual, in any cloud account or data center, in about 20 minutes. DataPrism covers the work teams use Qlik Sense for, and the same OS adds the Lake, the Warehouse, Workflows, Slides and AI Minds, with every AI agent working in your own install.
QlikView versions are reaching end of support. Where should we go?
Straight to DataMind OS on your own servers. Qlik's lifecycle page lists the end of support for QlikView 12.90 on October 31, 2026 and for 12.100 on September 30, 2027. The sources behind your QlikView documents connect on day one, Report Builder AI rebuilds each page from its screenshot in minutes, Model AI writes the measures in SQL, and Email subscriptions deliver print-ready PDF, PowerPoint or Excel under each recipient's rows.
Do we need a load script or set analysis in DataMind OS?
No. Data loads through Lake connectors and Warehouse transformations that DataMind writes the SQL for, and measures are SQL with 130 recipes and AI that writes one from a sentence. Compare mode puts two selections, such as 2026 against 2025, in one tile with Diff and Diff %.
How is DataMind OS priced compared with capacity-based Qlik Cloud plans?
DataMind OS is one company plan, published on the pricing page, with one Privileged seat included. DataMind meters no data, queries or users: report builders, Mind builders, Oda users, viewers and subscribers are free at any scale, and Kartlos tokens are included.
Can we reuse the tables in our QVD files?
Yes. Qlik's Store statement writes Parquet and CSV as well as QVD, so your scripts can write each table out as a Parquet or CSV file and the Lake loads it as a table, up to 50 GB per file. The sources behind those tables also connect directly as Lake sources.
Does the AI work when we run on our own servers?
Yes. Minds, Report Builder AI, Model AI, the Builder Minds and Oda all work with the DataMind OS you install. Your data and queries stay on your servers; what a Mind sends to answer goes through DataMind's AI gateway to zero-data-retention endpoints and is stored nowhere on the way, with columns marked as personal data sent as tokens.
Can we try DataMind OS on our own Qlik data?
Yes. The two-month free trial runs the whole OS on your own servers, with no card and no feature limits. The sources your Qlik apps reload from connect on day one, Qlik keeps reloading while you compare, and your data stays on your servers either way.
