Gusto
Gusto runs payroll, contractor payments, pay schedules, time off and benefits for many small US companies. The payroll totals are already in Gusto; what is missing is context. In a Lake beside the general ledger, project hours and revenue, each payroll run can be broken down into cost by department, client or product line, and benefit costs can be tracked per employee over time.

02Data
What you can sync.
- Employees
- Payrolls
- Contractors
- Pay schedules
- Time off
- Benefits
Bring Gusto employees into the Warehouse with column and row rules in the database, so people data stays with the people allowed to see it.
Need more? Name any other Gusto data the API returns, and the AI adds it to the connector.
03Credentials
Credentials you will need.
- OAuth 2.0 (client ID, client secret, refresh token)
Gusto uses OAuth 2.0 (client ID, client secret, refresh token). You add the credentials once, when the AI asks for them, and it tells you where to create them in Gusto if you need help.
04Questions
Questions you can answer.
Once Gusto data is in your Lake, ask an AI Mind in plain words or build the answer in DataPrism BI.
- What is fully loaded payroll cost per department, including employer taxes and benefit contributions, each month?
- How much are we paying contractors compared with W-2 employees, by team?
- Which employees carry large unused time off balances heading into year end?
- How has gross payroll grown against revenue over the last eight quarters?
05How it works
How it works in DataMind.
-
Pick Gusto.
Open Lake, pick Gusto in the source picker and name the connection. Connect Any API opens with a ready prompt that points the AI at the Gusto API docs.
-
Answer a few questions.
The AI reads the Gusto documentation, then asks which credentials you will use, which data to sync (for example employees and payrolls), whether you want a one-time load or a recurring sync, and which accounts or filters apply.
-
Your data lands in Lake.
It builds the connector, tests it and shows you sample rows. Then Gusto data loads into your Lake on your schedule, ready for the Warehouse, DataPrism BI and AI Minds.
06Pairs
Works well with Gusto.
Sources teams join with Gusto in the Warehouse, each one connected the same way.
